For some reason I was reading about Green Day’s American Idiot and thought to myself, is this really protest music? I mean it kind of is, Greed Day has leftist tendencies, and though not punks in an old school dyi-anarchy way, that they are leftists isn’t surprising. They made music for an audience that was anti-Bush at a time when many on the left felt stymied by his vision of america. Any, I got to think about protest music from the last heyday, the Vietnam War era, and modern music in a similar vein. I do not advocate or endorse the views in these videos, nor am I disowning them, I think these are great studies of expression a politicized point of view.
